Why can't I log in? Where is the "Sign Up" button?

There is no login because there is no server database.
            Refine.tools is a "Local-First" application. When you open the Dashboard, we create a secure database
            (using IndexedDB) right inside your web browser. All your job applications, salary data, and habits
            live on your device, not on our servers.

Is my resume public? Can recruiters see it?

Accepted Answer

No. Absolutely not.
            Dashboard data stays on your device, and there is no public profile or recruiter database.
            When you use an AI tool, the text you submit is sent to the generator only to produce the requested output.

Question 3

What happens if I clear my browser cache?

Accepted Answer

Your data will be deleted.
            Since the database lives in your browser, clearing "Site Data" or "Cookies" will wipe your dashboard.
            We recommend keeping a backup of your important resume files. We are working on an optional "Encrypted Cloud Sync"
            feature for the future.

Does Refine.tools track me?

Accepted Answer

Refine.tools does not use third-party analytics scripts, tracking cookies, fingerprints, or persistent analytics identifiers.
            It records a bounded set of first-party daily aggregate counts, such as applications created, workflow steps completed, local documents saved, optional paid-capability offer responses, and AI token totals. These metrics do not contain your submitted text, generated output, application IDs, API keys, email address, or raw IP address. A fixed response may be kept in this browser to avoid showing the same research prompt again.

Is this free? What is "Bring Your Own Key"?

Accepted Answer

The local workspace and AI tools are free to use, with reasonable limits to prevent abuse. No account is required.
            You can optionally bring your own OpenAI API key in Settings. When present, that key is used for your AI requests instead of the Refine.tools allowance.
            Your key is stored only in your browser, excluded from dashboard backups, and forwarded through a Refine.tools server route only when you submit an AI request. It is not persisted server-side.
